About Me
I am a Marriage and Family therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy, and maintain a private practice in Kentfield, CA.
With over 30 years experience as a marriage and family therapist, and as a graduate of California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), specializing in holistic, humanistic and existential therapy, I am currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among my areas of expertise are addictions and recovery, couples and relationship issues, families and adolescent behavior problems, divorce, pre-marital support, spiritual integration, depression and anxiety.
I have worked in an adolescent inpatient recovery home, an outpatient methadone facility treating adults with an opiate addiction, as director of an outpatient recovery program working with adults and adolescents with substance abuse or eating disorders, and in private practice. In my practice I have treated adolescents with acting out behavior problems, including substance abuse. I gave presentations to high schools, both to parents and the kids about use, abuse and addiction. I also work a lot with couples. I focus on helping a marriage go through a tough time by improving communication, developing a better attunement to each other, creating a field of harmony, healing past hurts and resentments, healing betrayals, addictions, and anger. I also work with families to unite them around an issue and restructure the dynamics that are no longer working. I have run long term men’s groups, helping men overcome male depression, addictions, anger, narcissism and vulnerability issues. I work with women to heal their relationships with men, eating disorders, past hurts and self esteem. I supervise therapists, helping them with their work in becoming a better therapist. I help them be able to be more authentic while making a deep and therapeutic connection with their clients. I also consult for addiction treatment. I have developed a tie between psychological work and spiritual awareness. I have done numerous trainings including being a level 2 AEDP practitioner, EFT, Brain based therapy, mindfulness and compassion therapy, various addiction trainings, many couples therapy trainings, somatic approaches, and trauma recovery.
My personal background includes outdoor recreation. I have done a lot of backpacking, biking and back country skiing. I took a semester in Africa with the National Outdoor Leadership School ( NOLS ). I have an undergraduate in Business Management and have experience managing retail and mail order business as well as recovery programs. I have been and continue to be a spiritual being. I read, study and practice spirituality and being present. I am married, with children and love being a dad.
